University of Michigan Dental School, officially known as University of Michigan School of Dentistry, is ranked among the best dental schools in the United States. The first dental school within a public institution, it is located within the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor campus, which is one of the original Public Ivies.
Five departments form the University of Michigan Dental School: Biologic and Materials Sciences; Orthodontics and Pediatric Dentistry; Periodontics and Oral Medicine; Cariology, Restorative Sciences, and Endodontics; Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery/Hospital Dentistry. The Department of Periodontics and Oral Medicine is further divided into the following divisions: Periodontology; Dental Hygiene; Prevention and Geriatrics; Oral Pathology/Medicine/Radiology. Further, the Division of Prosthdontics is found within the Department of Biologic and Materials Sciences.
